Sadia Umar-Farouq who is the Nigerian Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, made it known that the relief fund distribution will continue over the next four months.
She said that the fund was being shared in strict adherence to President Muhammadu Buhari’s guidelines as contained in his address to the nation on Sunday.
Umar-Farouq said that the relief fund is to be given to each person in households where they could not afford to take care of themselves during the lockdown period. She noted that the money was meant to ameliorate the effect of the lockdown.
Hear her: “Because of this COVID-19, the vulnerable groups have to expand because we are aware that there are people who live on daily wage(sic). So, we are also going to look at those groups of people to see how we can get food relief intervention to them in this period.”
