Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has revealed that he will not be attending the swearing-in of incoming governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Ambode yesterday officially handed over to Sanwo-Olu ahead of the inauguration ceremony taking place today at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.
After handing over, he tweeted:
To the Glory of God, I have just handed over the reins of government in Lagos State to His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, after a rewarding 4-year experience. This would not have been possible without the support, cooperation and prayers of all Lagosians. I remain eternally grateful to you all. God bless you all. And to God be all the Glory.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, the outgoing governor said:
“I have already formally handed over reigns of power in the State to the new Governor in a most cordial and convivial ceremony at the State House yesterday. The formal inauguration should have Mr. Sanwo-Olu as the star of the day. I don’t think that glory should be shared with him by my presence”.
